
On November 24th, six people were murdered at the DBAR nightclub in Villahermosa. On January 4th, seven more were shot dead at the La Casita Azul bar in the Tamulté de las Barrancas neighborhood. These violent events have raised concerns in the community.
In response to these massacres, Governor Javier May Rodríguez proposed a reform to reduce the closing times for the sale of alcoholic beverages in bars and clubs, suggesting a limit of 2:00 AM every day. Measures are being sought to ensure safety in these establishments, and inspections have been announced to prevent clandestine activities and ensure compliance with civil protection regulations.
In addition to these tragic events, the state of Tabasco has been the scene of other violent acts. In different ranches, discoveries of murdered individuals have been reported, and supposed conflicts between criminal groups have been identified as possible motives. In another incident, journalist and professor Alejandro Gallegos León was found dead, adding to the wave of violence in the region.
On Sunday, January 26th, at the Opera DC nightclub in Cárdenas, two men were killed and another person was injured during a shooting. Witnesses report that a group of armed men entered the establishment and opened fire on the victims, causing two deaths on the spot and leaving a third person injured, who was taken to a nearby hospital. Despite the deployment of authorities, no arrests have been made so far. This unfortunate event marks the third incident of this type in a nightclub in less than two months in Tabasco, underscoring the urgency of addressing violence in the region.
