The renowned lawyer Erik Rauda expressed his discontent with the new legal strategy adopted in the case of influencer Rodolfo "Fofo" Márquez, after having abandoned the defense. Rauda stated that he would not take responsibility for the decisions made by the new defense and launched harsh criticisms against them, labeling them as "sellers of illusions" who deceived the family by promising the impossible. He commented that he intended to protect Márquez's rights and focused his strategy on bringing the case to federal court through a constitutional protection to reclassify the crime as aggravated injuries instead of attempted femicide.
However, Márquez's family opted to take it to trial in local court, a decision that Rauda considered a serious mistake putting the accused in high risk. The lawyer argued that the judicial process in the State of Mexico was biased against him due to his fame. Rauda expressed his disapproval of this decision, as he believed that Márquez was being judged for who he was rather than for his actions.
Rauda highlighted in his social media posts that his intention had always been to protect his client and that he was disappointed with the direction the case took after his departure. He explained that his strategy was not accepted by Márquez's family, which led to his withdrawal from the case. Despite the criticisms and accusations, Erik Rauda remained firm in his stance to seek the best for his client and believed that the decision to take the case to trial increased the risk for Rodolfo Márquez.
