New Bebeteca Inaugurated in Milpa Alta

The administration of Octavio Rivero inaugurates a Bebeteca in Milpa Alta to promote child development. This space includes playful activities and workshops that promote Nahuatl, benefiting thousands of children and their families.

The Rivero government has inaugurated the first Bebetecas as part of the Dignified Baby Program, highlighting the importance of providing spaces for the integral development of the youngest children and their families, promoting learning and growth from early childhood.

The first Bebeteca is located in Santa Ana Tlacotenco, Milpa Alta, a community that faces significant challenges in terms of poverty and educational lag. This project seeks to transform the living conditions of children through education, culture, and early stimulation, recognizing the importance of investing in childhood to generate lasting changes in the community.

The Milpa Alta Bebeteca, one of the communities with the highest population of Nahuatl speakers, offers a safe and inclusive space that combines early stimulation with the recognition and preservation of indigenous languages, especially Nahuatl. Additionally, workshops and playful activities are offered to promote this language among new generations.

The facilities of the Bebeteca include areas equipped for babies and children from 0 to 10 years old, with early stimulation zones. The goal is to ensure quality learning and development opportunities for the youngest children, promoting programs like Aliméntate that encourage nutritious feeding as a basis for physical and mental development.

It is projected to open 12 additional Bebetecas in each of the towns of Milpa Alta, benefiting more than 20,000 children by the end of the current administration. These spaces will offer free workshops on children's stories, music, theater, breastfeeding, and healthy eating, aimed at both children and their parents.

With the commitment to provide comprehensive care for early childhood in Mexico City, the aim is to strengthen the cognitive, creative, motor, and social skills of the youngest children through activities that will benefit more than 10,549 children under 3 years old and 10,540 children from 4 to 10 years old. The staff in charge of the project is certified under high-quality standards.
