Altagracia Gómez, coordinator of the Regional Economic Development and Relocalization Advisory Council (CADERR), has been known for her extravagant outfits, but on this occasion, it was the legal advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, Ernestina Godoy, who attracted attention with a luxurious garment. On January 16, Godoy met with the Secretary of Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, and ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) wearing a Carolina Herrera cape valued at 15,450 pesos.
Social media users criticized Godoy for acquiring the cape and questioned the source of the funds with which she could purchase it. The lack of transparency regarding such matters generated speculation and comments online about the issue. "The enrichment of many of these individuals is inexplicable," said a Twitter user.
The meeting between the Secretary of Interior and the SCJN ministers took place on January 16 at the request of Norma Piña, in response to the federal government's interests in resuming the candidate selection process for the June elections. President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of not interrupting the electoral process of the Judiciary to guarantee the democratic participation of all interested parties.
During the meeting, Norma Lucía Piña Hernández and ministers Javier Laynez Potisek and Jorge Mario Pardo Rebolledo addressed the topic of budget expansion for the 2025 fiscal year of the Judiciary. In light of concerns over the suspension of the judicial election process, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation expressed its willingness to engage in dialogue.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to establish a working group composed of representatives of the Judiciary, the Legal Counsel, and Nacional Financiera to address budgetary and electoral issues. Transparency in the management of resources and decisions is a relevant topic that has been discussed in these meetings and in public opinion.
