Five police officers from the Quetzal and Santa Cruz quadrants were caught smoking marijuana in broad daylight. The detention took place during a vehicle inspection of the officers, where several boxes of medications with labels indicating their origin in Tultitlán were discovered, suggesting a possible theft. The agents, aged between 24 and 38 years, were transporting 60 boxes of medications from different brands and 20 bags of apparent marijuana.
The officers were taken to the Public Prosecutor's Office of CDMX to continue with the corresponding investigations. The Secretariat of Security reported that the agents could not prove the legal ownership or origin of the seized medications. Given this situation, an administrative investigation was opened both by internal affairs and by the corresponding ministerial authorities.
The arrest of the officers was carried out by their own colleagues from the corporation upon detecting the irregularities. In the shared images, the medications found in at least three vehicles used by the police can be seen. The detainees were informed of their rights and placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office to determine their legal situation.
This arrest took place on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, on 10th Street in the Santa Cruz Meyehualco neighborhood, in the Iztapalapa borough of Mexico City. The five police officers involved were arrested in possession of marijuana and allegedly stolen medications, which has initiated legal proceedings against them.
