Singer Gloria Trevi sued Chumel Torres for using one of her songs in one of his YouTube shows. However, the latest update on the case indicates that there is no longer a legal process against the comedian. Chumel Torres stated in an interview with several media outlets that Gloria Trevi's lawsuit against him was canceled.
This legal conflict arose due to the use of the song 'Todos me miran' in a broadcast of Pulso de la República in 2023. Torres confirmed that the matter was settled and that he did not have to make any payment. Despite the previous issues, the comedian stated that he would not change his style of making people laugh and emphasized the importance of freedom of expression.
Chumel Torres used the song 'Todos me miran' to make a reference to the Mexican politician Manuel Velasco, husband of Anahí Puente. Although he modified the lyrics, the allusion to the ex-partner of Sergio Andrade was clearly recognizable. After Gloria Trevi's lawsuit for the unauthorized use of her song, the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) determined in 2024 that Chumel should pay a fine of 500,000 pesos, although the comedian claims that he did not make any payment related to the legal conflict he had with the singer.
