Morena Launches Membership Drive in Nuevo León

The Morena party in Nuevo León aims to recruit 300,000 new members through house visits, capitalizing on political dissatisfaction ahead of the 2027 elections.

Morena Launches Membership Drive in Nuevo León

The leadership of Morena in Nuevo León has initiated its affiliation process to the party with the goal of adding 300,000 new members, as requested by Andrés Manuel López Beltrán during his recent visit to the state, according to LPO.

The party's president, Anabel Alcocer, explained that they will conduct door-to-door visits and that interested individuals only need to present their official identification. Although the goal is ambitious, as the party currently has only 40,000 members since 2022.

In the leadership circles of Morena in Nuevo León, there is optimism. They highlight a certain fatigue in some sections in the hands of the opposition and believe that the approximately one million votes received by the president, as well as support in local districts, will translate into a significant increase in membership ahead of 2027.

The intense effort in Nuevo León to increase its member registration by almost 750% by 2025 is interpreted as a great opportunity for Morena to compete strongly for the governorship in the upcoming elections, especially considering the wear and tear of Movimiento Ciudadano and the current internal dispute between the PRI and PAN.

Although the affiliation campaigns have just been formalized, in Escobedo they have already been working on this for a couple of weeks. There, deputy Anylú Bendición, now linked to the Escobedo Group, has begun operating with vehicles adorned with Morena stickers.

According to sources, these vehicles arrived from Mexico City with the support of Segob. Anabel Alcocer confirmed that the affiliation process has started, but so far, they have no record of the first weeks. She also clarified that any official, such as a deputy or mayor, can carry out these brigades as long as they are conducted outside their working hours.
