President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reiterated the importance of dialogue with the United States government, led by Donald Trump, in light of the possibility of imposing tariffs on Mexico and Canada. During a morning conference, Sheinbaum stated that they are prepared with contingency plans for any decision made by Trump.

"Based on what is reported in the media today and yesterday's statement from President (Donald) Trump, I want to inform the people of Mexico, and you all, that we have a dialogue table with the United States government, where we have discussed various issues and we agree every day," explained Sheinbaum Pardo. It was also mentioned that there are agreements on issues such as immigration and security, with respect to sovereignty and human rights.

Sheinbaum affirmed that they will always keep communication channels open with the United States government and that they have alternative plans in case of the imposition of tariffs, which could affect economic relations in North America.

"It is important for you to know that we will always defend the dignity of our People," Sheinbaum assured, emphasizing the importance of dialogue between equals and respect for sovereignty. It was also highlighted that the U.S. economy would be affected by the imposition of tariffs.

Regarding Donald Trump’s statement about imposing tariffs on Mexico and Canada, President Sheinbaum underscored the importance of staying calm and making informed decisions, stressing the relevance of continuous dialogue to avoid tensions and seek solutions that benefit both parties.
