Guanajuato Launches Assisted Return Plan for Migrants

The Government of Guanajuato has presented the Assisted Return Plan for Guanajuato Migrants with the aim of providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to Guanajuato migrants who may be affected by possible deportations. During the presentation of the plan, Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo highlighted her administration's commitment to accompany migrants in any return process.

The plan consists of three fundamental phases: guidance and accompaniment from the United States through liaison offices in San Antonio, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Chicago; attention at border points with constant monitoring of migration flow and support in land return logistics in coordination with the Federal Government; and attention in Guanajuato with four regional temporary shelters, support in documentation, access to job opportunities, and health services for a dignified reintegration.

An important aspect of this effort is the "Migrante Quiero" program, which offers various tools and benefits to facilitate the return of migrants to Guanajuato, such as liaison offices in the U.S., free legal advice through Mexican consulates, migration monitoring, safe transfers, temporary shelters in Guanajuato, management of official documents, job inclusion, educational support, access to health services, and family assistance.

The governor stated: "We are generating transversal programs so that this return to Guanajuato is a return with opportunities and development," reaffirming her administration’s commitment to ensuring that migrants have access to employment, education, and health upon returning home.
