Users have distorted the tweets where Karla expressed her opinion on various controversies. On the other hand, the actress has acknowledged writing them and has apologized for them. Despite everything, she confirmed that she will not withdraw her nomination and it has recently gone viral that she has reported journalist Shanik Berman for discrimination.
Karla Sofía Gascón's complaint against Shanik Berman was filed in February 2020 in Madrid. The shared document details that discriminatory, defamatory, insulting, offensive, and slanderous statements were published against the actress, violating her right to privacy and honor. It is noted that Shanik's statements constitute a hate crime due to Karla's gender identity, requesting their immediate withdrawal, as well as compensation for damages and an apology.
For her part, Shanik Berman allegedly expressed offenses towards Karla Sofía in her column in El Heraldo de México and on her radio program on Grupo Fórmula. It is mentioned that the mistreatment towards the actress was discriminatory regarding her gender identity, including mockery, bragging, and slander. So far, neither party has commented on the complaint filed two years ago, outside of Mexico.
