The rector of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) announced the regulated transfer from the Colegio de Bachilleres to the UAM, which will allow outstanding students from the Colegio de Bachilleres to have preferences for entering a degree program at one of the five educational campuses of the UAM in Azcapotzalco, Cuajimalpa, Iztapalapa, Lerma, and Xochimilco.
José Antonio de los Reyes highlighted that 24 percent of UAM graduates come from the Colegio de Bachilleres campuses. During the announcement of the ‘National High School for All’ program, the elimination of the Comipems exam for 2025 was emphasized, and information was provided about the implementation of the regulated transfer.
José Antonio de los Reyes Heredia, rector of the UAM, explained that this new scheme will recognize the efforts of students and grant them the right to continue with a degree. It was noted that the model for entering higher secondary education will allow young people to receive a quality education certified by the main universities in the country.
Tania Rodríguez Mora, Undersecretary of Higher Secondary Education, announced that the UAM, UNAM, and IPN will collaborate with the federal government for the updating and review of the curriculum for national high school professional and technological training programs. Educational institutions will grant graduates of upper secondary education a High School Certificate and a Technical and/or Professional Studies Certificate.
Although the elimination of the Comipems exam is contemplated, students wishing to enter the UNAM and IPN campuses will need to take an online exam between May and June. During 2024, 35 percent of the students admitted to the UAM came from the same high school. Currently, the only institution that has a regulated transfer is the UNAM for students from its high schools and CCH.
