The Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) will implement a new admission policy that will allow students from certain educational institutions to access their undergraduate programs directly. In this regard, it was announced that students studying at high schools in the Colegio de Bachilleres will have preferential admission to undergraduate studies at this university. According to the rector of UAM, José Antonio De los Reyes Heredia, this scheme aims to recognize talent and reward the effort of Mexican students.
The proximity of UAM campuses to Colegio de Bachilleres schools will facilitate the implementation of the project. With this regulatory pass, interested students will be able to access UAM undergraduate programs without the need to take an entrance exam, as long as they meet the established academic requirements. Rector De los Reyes Heredia indicated that the project is expected to be implemented this year, although no additional requirements that may be requested were detailed.
Following the announcement, the student community issued a statement celebrating UAM's decision and highlighting the importance of this step in terms of social responsibility. In the words of the student community, this announcement represents a significant effort that strengthens the university's commitment to social responsibility and will allow more talented young people to join the university community.
