The strategy designed by the Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, focuses on strengthening intelligence and investigation, as well as coordinating the security cabinet to address various challenges. Among these, it is highlighted to avoid the trafficking of fentanyl and combat Mexican drug cartels.
Within this cabinet, key figures include Marcelo Ebrard, who now leads the Ministry of Economy and must negotiate important agreements, such as the USMCA, in addition to managing the cancellation of tariffs. Although a stable relationship has been maintained with the administration of Donald Trump, it is expected that cooperation will continue without major conflicts.
After four months in power, Sheinbaum has an 81% approval rating from the population, according to a survey conducted by El Financiero. Despite challenges such as violence in Sinaloa and the increase in tariffs by the United States, her support continues to grow.
Sheinbaum's agenda is focused on security and trade, which is why she recently presented the Mexico Plan in collaboration with the business sector. Regarding security, Omar García Harfuch is in charge of managing this issue in the government. In the international sphere, issues such as security and exports to China are being addressed.
Regarding cabinet evaluations, it is observed that perception varies according to the educational level of respondents. People with basic or secondary education tend to evaluate the secretaries more favorably, while those with university studies rate them less positively overall.
In a survey conducted by El Financiero, it is highlighted that Marcelo Ebrard and Omar García Harfuch are the cabinet members best evaluated by public opinion. The Minister of Economy receives 63% favorable opinions, while García Harfuch receives 61% approval for his work. Other officials such as Citlalli Hernández and Mario Delgado were also positively evaluated by citizens.
