New Vehicle Renewal Process in Jalisco

The Government of Jalisco begins the vehicle renewal process, including the change of license plates for vehicles ending in number 1. Learn the steps and requirements to complete the procedure.

New Vehicle Renewal Process in Jalisco

The Jalisco Government has announced that in February and March, the plate change for vehicles ending with the number 1 will take place. To start, the vehicle registration fee of 900 pesos must be paid through the official page designated for this purpose. Afterwards, an appointment must be scheduled for responsible verification, and once this stage is completed, an appointment can be made for the plate replacement at the corresponding site.

To pick up the new plates, along with the updated registration card, one must go to the collection offices with the responsible verification certificate for 2025, the previous plates, a recent proof of residence, and a valid official identification. Currently, up to 400 appointments can be attended per collector with an estimated time of 10 minutes per procedure.

The plate change process is part of the free plate replacement program included in the 3x1 package. During February, Jalisco motorists will be able to obtain the new vehicle plates called "CabaƱas." These plates, along with the "Collage" design, comply with current federal regulations, and by 2026, all vehicles registered in Jalisco must have one of these two types of plates to circulate.

Both plates have been designed with elements ensuring visibility, durability, and safety, and they include a QR code to protect the owner's personal data. The process for making the change is simple and will be available throughout the year 2025. The Jalisco Government urges motorists to carry out this procedure in advance and to be aware of the deadlines corresponding to their vehicles.
