The Chamber of Deputies has received the request for impeachment against federal deputy Cuauhtémoc Blanco, presented by the Attorney General's Office of the state of Morelos. Blanco is accused of attempted rape by his half-sister. The document was delivered to the General Secretariat of the Chamber by the regional coordinator of the Metropolitan Attorney's Office of Morelos, Diana Flores Segura, in her capacity as a Public Prosecutor of the Sexual Crimes Attorney's Office of the entity.
Prosecutor Uriel Carmona Gándara confirmed the request for impeachment earlier, following the complaint filed by the victim identified as Cuauhtémoc Blanco's half-sister. According to Carmona Gándara, the events allegedly occurred in December 2023 at the official residence of the then-governor.
The investigation includes evidentiary elements presented by the victim and her lawyers, as well as the evidence gathered by the Attorney's Office in the exercise of its powers. Carmona Gándara emphasized the importance of society knowing about the case, given its publicity in the media and the public narrative from the victim.
If the impeachment is not granted, the criminal process would remain suspended until Cuauhtémoc Blanco completes his term as a federal deputy. Once his term concludes, the corresponding legal actions can proceed. The prosecutor refrained from giving details about the penalties contemplated in current legislation. Edgar Antonio Maldonado Ceballos took over as prosecutor of Morelos following the dismissal of Uriel Carmona.
