The controversy between Maribel Guardia and Imelda Tuñón took an unexpected turn after statements from Fernando Gamboa, Imelda's boyfriend, who revealed details about their relationship, including a trip in which Maribel also participated.
According to Maribel Guardia's version, her grandson José Julián traveled with his mother and her boyfriend, and the 7-year-old boy told her that he slept on the couch for several days while his mother was with "the uncle" of the minor. On the other hand, Garza Tuñón denied this claim, but Fernando Gamboa contradicts Imelda and supports Maribel in this regard.
In a press conference prior to a performance of "Lagunilla mi Barrio," Maribel Guardia shared a situation that led her to report her daughter-in-law Imelda Garza for the well-being of José Julián. In December, Imelda went on vacation with the boy and upon returning, he told his grandmother that he slept in the living room while his mother was with "the uncle" in the room.
Although Maribel Guardia claims she should not involve herself in the personal life of her son’s ex-partner, she believes that the well-being of her grandson is a priority. For his part, Fernando Gamboa, alleged boyfriend of Imelda, revealed that the boy slept on a sofa bed during a trip to Mérida for a couple of nights.
Fernando Gamboa, who has known the family since he went to kindergarten with Julián, also denied the accusations about the lack of closeness between Maribel and her son Julián Figueroa, assuring that Maribel was always present for her son.
