A man in Mexico City has been arrested for allegedly setting his ex-girlfriend's house on fire following their breakup on Valentine's Day. The incident, captured on video, shows the suspect dousing the home with gasoline before igniting it.

In an incident that could be interpreted as a revenge for Valentine's Day, a man wascaught on video setting fire to his ex-girlfriend's house. The individual was identified as Eduardo Barrientos, 26 years old, who allegedly committed the act after his romantic relationship ended on the eve of the Day of Love and Friendship.

According to initial reports, Eduardo Barrientos was arrested by elements of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) along with an accomplice shortly after setting the house on fire. According to the Penal Code of Mexico City, anyone who damages someone else's property can face a prison sentence of between 15 days and one year, as long as the act does not constitute a more serious crime, like causing injury to a person.

In the video shared by journalist Antonio Nieto, known as Siete Letras, Eduardo Barrientos is seen arriving at his ex-girlfriend's house in Pedregal de Santa Úrsula, in the Coyoacán borough of Mexico City. The man gets out of his silver vehicle, takes out two gas cans, pours the flammable liquid at the entrance of the house, sets the place on fire, and quickly flees.

So far, authorities have not provided further details about the arrested individual or the health status of the woman affected by the fire. It is unknown if there were any injuries as a result of this serious incident.
