Journalist María Idalia Gómez revealed exclusively for Aristegui en Vivo a case of corruption within the National Guard. The case is related to a bidding process for the purchase of strategic communication radios. According to Gómez, this is the first case of corruption that has been detected so far, and the investigation is ongoing.
The bidding took place in October of last year, and its purpose was to acquire Harris radios, essential for large-scale operations and communications within the Armed Forces. However, the radios delivered by the winning company, Hunter Telecommunications, do not meet the necessary specifications for intercommunications, jeopardizing military operations by failing to record communications, which is crucial for subsequent intelligence analysis.
In relation to this case, María Idalia Gómez indicated that names such as Lieutenant Colonel Alberto Gutiérrez Domínguez, head of the bidding committee, and Major Alberto Bautista Alderete, deputy head of the committee, are emerging through investigative documents. The detection of this corruption occurred indirectly by a captain who participated in the bidding and observed irregularities in the process.
The journalist emphasized that this case of corruption is part of a broader effort to 'clean' security institutions in Mexico, particularly the National Guard, in pursuit of reconciliation and coordination with the United States. The goal is to prevent corrupt links from interfering in the country's security. The investigation continues, with authorities working to clarify the extent of the irregularities and take appropriate measures.
