Renewal of Voter ID in Mexico

The INE announces that February 28 is the deadline to request the replacement of the Voter ID. Make sure to have it valid to participate in the elections on June 1, 2025.

Renewal of Voter ID in Mexico

The National Electoral Institute (INE) announced that February 28 is the deadline to request the replacement of the Voter ID in case of theft, loss, or damage. The process must be carried out at the nearest Citizen Attention Module to the residence. The hours of operation at INE modules vary, with some operating in a single shift from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and others in double shifts from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

It is important to renew the ID as individuals who do not have their valid Voter ID will not be able to participate in the elections on June 1, 2025, where members of the Federal Judiciary will be elected.

To request the replacement, citizens must go to the Citizen Attention Module with or without an appointment and present the following documents in original and without amendments: birth certificate, official identification, and proof of address not older than three months.

In case of doubts or inquiries, citizens can contact INETEL at 800 433 2000 or visit the official INE website.
