Incidents of Violence on Pemex Platforms Raise Concerns

Two Pemex oil platforms located in the Sonda de Campeche were the scene of violent assaults by a group of armed men, leaving two workers injured and multiple complaints due to a lack of response to distress calls. The oil workers' union condemned the events and demanded greater security at Pemex facilities.

The injured workers were taken to Ciudad del Carmen thanks to the intervention of union leader Víctor Matías Hernández Colunga and General Secretary José Antonio Toledo González. The union indicated that these incidents highlight the deficiencies in security at Pemex facilities and the need to implement urgent measures to protect workers.

The union has requested federal authorities to strengthen surveillance in the area and guarantee the safety of employees. Workers have expressed concern over the lack of effective protocols to prevent these attacks on the platforms, leaving them vulnerable to armed groups.

The assaults on Pemex platforms in the Sonda de Campeche have generated criticism towards the state-owned company for the lack of security in the region. Violent attacks have increased in recent months, posing challenges for both Pemex and the authorities responsible for overseeing the company. Workers have also reported on labor conditions and the quality of food provided on the platforms.
