The Attorney General's Office of the State of Jalisco reported that the bodies of four people found in the state were preliminarily identified by relatives of municipal police officers from Teocaltiche, who went missing last Tuesday, February 18. Although the identification is still in process through forensic examinations in Jalisco's Forensic Sciences, led by Dr. Jesús Mario Rivas Souza, according to the Attorney General's Office in a statement.
In parallel, the Deputy Attorney's Office for Missing Persons, with the collaboration of state and federal authorities, is conducting an operation to search for the other five people still missing, among whom are elements of the Teocaltiche Police Department and a civilian. The review of the weapons, the collective license, and the protection of the police stations in Teocaltiche and Villa Hidalgo is ongoing.
The members of both police departments, who acted as witnesses before the Public Ministry in Guadalajara, participated in the ministerial proceedings to broaden the investigations, respecting their human rights at all times. They were later reunited with their families, according to the state Attorney General's Office.
Security in the municipalities involved is currently under the responsibility of elements from the Jalisco Secretary of Security, the Secretary of National Defense, and the National Guard. Meanwhile, the Municipal Government of Teocaltiche has condemned the events and expressed its solidarity with the affected families, collaborating with the relevant authorities to clarify what happened.
Through a statement disseminated on social media, the Municipal Government emphasized its commitment to work together with all government agencies to facilitate investigations and ensure the swift location of the victims. In times of pain and uncertainty, the Municipal Government of Teocaltiche stands in solidarity with the affected families and citizens, reaffirming its support and calling for unity amid adversity.
