The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, rejected accusations about her supposed relationship with Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada's lawyer, Juan Pablo Penilla. A new poll by the newspaper El Universal shows that her approval continues to rise, with 80% support for her management in the face of commercial threats from Donald Trump.
Sheinbaum clarified that the image where she appears with Penilla at a public event is fictitious. She assured that she does not personally know the lawyer of the drug trafficker extradited to the United States and reiterated that her government does not establish complicities with anyone.
The president also highlighted that the accusations against her spread on social media through bot accounts that previously promoted the label "narcopresidenta." Her administration is investigating the matter and considers not repatriating Zambada to avoid increasing tension with Trump.
Sheinbaum emphasized: "When one tells the truth, one is focused on governing; there is nothing more important than commitments. These things are from a small sector." During a morning conference, the president stressed that it was constituted by a fictitious instance.
