Claudia Sheinbaum Appoints New Federal Treasurer

Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, has appointed Roberto Fernández González as the new Federal Treasurer, succeeding María Elvira Concheiro Bórquez. Fernández brings extensive experience in public finance and urban development.

The President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced the appointment of Roberto Fernández González as the new treasurer of the Federation, replacing María Elvira Concheiro Bórquez. Fernández has held the position of treasurer of the Government of Mexico City since December 2018 until September 2024.

Roberto Fernández holds a degree in Administration from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and has a diploma in Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Environmental Management from Ibero-American University. Previously, he was the deputy treasurer of Cadastre and Territorial Registry of the Federal District Government from 2010 to 2015.

In the field of public finance, he stood out for coordinating the update of the database and the cadastral operating systems, the regulations applicable to the tax valuation of properties, and the reengineering of processes. These efforts contributed to strengthening the public finances of the capital and providing legal and economic certainty to various sectors regarding real estate taxation.

Additionally, Fernández was the coordinator of the Cadastral Modernization Program of Mexico City (Promoca), manager of Administration and Finance at the Credit Recovery Trust of the DF (Fidere III), and held other relevant positions in public administration.

His contributions to projects such as the replacement of taxis in Mexico City, the generation of the 21st Agenda of the DF, Mexico's first climate action strategy, the renewal program of the RTP transport fleet, and the 'Retrofit' emissions control of the same company, as well as his collaboration in designing the Metrobús system, are noteworthy.
