The Ecologist Green Party has started its political operations, standing out for the buying of councilors in various municipalities to obstruct the work of Morena governments. In Quintana Roo, a state governed by the morenista Mara Lezama, a plot is being woven to promote Jorge Emilio González as a candidate in 2027, challenging the ideals of the 4T.
For Morena, the alliance with the Green Party and the Labor Party is crucial to advance its constitutional reforms and national plan, by adding votes in Congress. However, this alliance carries an ever-increasing political cost, as the citizenry looks on in disbelief at how the Green carries out questionable maneuvers while gaining space within Morena.
The Green has shown its true face with extortion against Morena and President Claudia Sheinbaum, demanding political favors in exchange for benefits in future elections. Despite Sheinbaum's efforts to combat nepotism, the Green managed to postpone a reform until 2030 that would prohibit relatives of politicians from holding public office, in an agreement that benefits its own interests.
This voracity of the Green Party has surprised due to its rapid expansion and vulgar approach, breaking away from old alliances with other parties. In states like San Luis Potosí, it attempts to impose candidates aligned with its interests, such as in the case of Senator Ruth González Silva, wife of Governor Gallardo, for the 2027 elections.
In Nayarit, Senator Jasmine Bugarín has formed a coalition against Morena with parties like the PRI, MC, and PAN, in case she does not succeed in the internal election for the gubernatorial candidacy. These attitudes of the Green have generated tensions and challenges within the national political landscape, highlighting its determination to gain power at any cost.
