Detention of CJNG Leader's Brother in Tonaya

Abraham Oseguera Cervantes, known as 'Don Rodo' and brother of Nemesio Oseguera, alias 'El Mencho', leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was arrested last Friday at 7:38 AM in Tonaya, Jalisco, according to the National Registry of Detentions. The National Guard carried out his arrest and referred him to the Public Ministry to clarify his legal situation.

In a morning press conference, the Secretary of Security, Omar GarcĂa Harfuch, confirmed the capture of Abraham Oseguera but did not provide further details. It is worth mentioning that 'Don Rodo' had previously been arrested in April 2024 and released in July of the same year due to various irregularities detected during his arrest.

During a hearing with a district judge at the Federal Criminal Justice Center of the State of Mexico, inconsistencies were found in the capture procedure of Oseguera. Furthermore, the Attorney General's Office was unable to prove the accusations for illegal possession of firearms and drug-related offenses that led to his arrest. Those charges had caused him to be transferred to the federal prison 'Altiplano'.

This new detention of Abraham Oseguera Cervantes, brother of 'El Mencho', highlights the complexity of combating organized crime structures and the challenges faced by authorities in the pursuit of crime.
