A joint operation carried out between Mexico and the United States has culminated in the extradition of several key drug traffickers to U.S. territory. Among those transferred is Antonio Oseguera Cervantes, known as 'Tony Montana,' brother of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, aka 'El Mencho,' leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
In addition to 'Tony Montana,' Mexican authorities have also extradited Erick Valencia Salazar, aka 'El 85,' founding member of the CJNG and leader of the faction 'Los Matazetas.' These actions mark an escalation in the pressure on 'El Mencho,' as both Mexico and the United States aim to capture this prominent drug trafficker, responsible for leading the CJNG.
Alongside 'El Mencho,' authorities are also pursuing Los Chapitos, a criminal cell led by the children of Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, due to the rising violence in Sinaloa.
In a recent move, Mexican authorities managed to arrest Abraham Oseguera Cervantes, nicknamed 'Don Rodo,' brother of 'El Mencho,' in the municipality of Tonayán, Jalisco. Abraham, also known as 'Don Rodo,' had been released last April after insufficient evidence was found against him.
Meanwhile, Rosalinda González Valencia, aka 'La Jefa' and wife of 'El Mencho,' was released from the Federal Center for Social Reinsertion number 16 in Morelos after serving part of her sentence. This release was controversial, contested by the Attorney General's Office, but ultimately upheld by a collegiate court.
The CJNG, where Antonio Oseguera Cervantes held a key position, is one of the most powerful and violent criminal organizations in Mexico. Based in Guadalajara, it is involved in drug trafficking to the United States, distributing cocaine, methamphetamines, and fentanyl throughout the North American country.
Ultimately, these joint actions between Mexico and the United States demonstrate an effort to dismantle the most dangerous criminal organizations operating in the region, such as the CJNG.
