Elements of the National Guard (GN) in coordination with assets of the Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Jalisco carried out the detention of a man identified as Jesús “N”, 58 years old, in the municipality of Teocaltiche. This individual is presumed to be a police officer in the same municipality. During the apprehension, illegal weapons were found in his personal vehicle, including a 9 mm firearm, 118 cartridges of different calibers, and three empty magazines. This event occurs amid the search for four missing municipal police elements on the Teocaltiche-Guadalajara road on February 18.
Residents of Teocaltiche have called for a march in Mexico City (CDMX) to demand justice for the missing police officers. The “Teocaltiche Front for Our People”, made up of municipality residents and relatives of the kidnapped agents, has requested the construction of a National Guard barracks to protect the community from organized crime. There is also a demand to establish a dialogue with the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, and other key officials.
The Teocaltiche Front has expressed its concern about the security crisis in the Jalisco municipality, which has worsened since February 18, the date the search for the missing police officers began. During this investigation, a monitoring center for organized crime was dismantled, and possible connections of the former mayor of Teocaltiche, Juan Manuel Vallejo, with crime were revealed. This situation adds to a series of violent events in previous years, such as clashes between criminal groups, kidnappings of residents and police officers, and the discovery of corpses.
