A group of residents from San Pablo Ahuatempan, in the municipality of Santa Isabel Cholula, blocked the highway and the federal road Puebla-Atlixco in both directions, protesting the alleged kidnapping of two minors aged 14 and 16. The blockade began around midnight on March 1, when the protesters placed tires and set them on fire to prevent vehicles from passing, demanding the immediate location of the teenagers.
So far, the situation remains unresolved, and authorities continue to negotiate with the protesters to release traffic. Motorists have been stranded up to the toll booth located on Vía Atlixcáyotl, with no viable detours. The blockade has lasted over nine hours and has created a long line of stranded vehicles.
The Secretary of the Interior, Samuel Aguilar Pala, confirmed that the blockade continues but assured that there are alternative routes where traffic flows without issues. He also pointed out that the State Attorney General and the state government are already investigating the case, urging the protesters to allow traffic to resume. 'We hope this is not a serious case and that we can soon provide them with a definite response,' he stated.
The Attorney General is intervening and making progress in gathering information, while residents maintain the blockade awaiting updates on the whereabouts of the missing minors.
