Claudia Sheinbaum Launches Five-Point Strategy

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the launch of a five-point strategy to strengthen the internal market and expressed her optimism that President Donald Trump will not impose tariffs on Mexico next April 2. During her speech at the Zócalo, in front of a crowd that included union members, teachers, and bureaucrats, Sheinbaum emphasized that Mexico and the United States have agreements that eliminate tariffs between both countries, so reciprocal tariffs should not be applied.

At the event, Sheinbaum was joined by her cabinet and several governors from different parties, who gathered to address the uncertainty caused by the threat of tariffs. The president emphasized the importance of increasing the minimum wage and promoting self-sufficiency in basic food and energy in the country.

Additionally, Sheinbaum pointed out the need to boost public investment to create jobs and mentioned the construction of trains to improve connectivity. She also promised to promote national production for the domestic market through the Mexico Plan and strengthen all Welfare programs. Sheinbaum celebrated a 15% decrease in intentional homicides between October 2024 and February 2025.

During the event, awkward moments arose when Sheinbaum passed by without greeting leaders and legislators from Morena and the Green Party who were present in the front row. Some of them apologized to the president on social media, claiming they did not hear her arrival due to the excitement of the event.
