On Friday, March 7, a clandestine crematorium was discovered at the Izaguirre Ranch in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. This finding included clandestine graves and a training center of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Mexico's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed the importance of investigating what happened after the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office secured the ranch.
Sheinbaum informed that her security cabinet has addressed the case and that the Attorney General's Office (FGR) will be responsible for investigating the events in Teuchitlán. It was mentioned that the state authorities of Jalisco had already inspected the site in September 2024 and that the local prosecutor's office was in charge of the security.
The discovery was made by the group of missing persons 'Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco,' revealing the presence of more than 400 pairs of shoes and clothing items, suggesting the existence of at least 200 victims. Authorities are working to clarify what occurred and determine responsibilities.
Alejandro Gertz Manero, head of the FGR, referred to the importance of thoroughly investigating this case, highlighting the seriousness of issues arising from organized crime and the need to clarify the nature of what was found in Teuchitlán. Forensic experts discovered burned skeletal remains and bullet casings, among other evidence that will be analyzed in the investigation.
Gertz Manero also mentioned that the presence of human remains and the CJNG training camp in Teuchitlán will be investigated in detail. The FGR committed to clarifying the story behind these clandestine graves found in Jalisco and determining the corresponding responsibilities.
