On Tuesday, April 15, in the López Cotilla neighborhood of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, a chase was unleashed by armed individuals against the passengers of a Jeep truck, which unfortunately resulted in the murder of two young men, both 23 years old and originally from Guadalajara.
Initial reports stated that one of the victims was the influencer Carlos Daniel Arce Camacho, known as 'El Gordo Arce', a close associate of Markitos Toys, linked to the Los Chapitos cell of the Sinaloa Cartel. However, the victims' families refuted this information, claiming that 'El Gordo Arce' had simply sold the vehicle to one of the victims.
The Jeep Rubicon, with plates from Michoacán, is featured in a video uploaded by the influencer to his YouTube channel. The vehicle's owners attempted to flee after abandoning the car, but unfortunately, one was found dead inside a purification company, and the other on the roof of a nearby house, both from gunshot wounds.
Witnesses to the incident mentioned that the assailants escaped in several vehicles, including a white Mercedes Benz and a gray Camry. The investigative police secured the victims' car, which shows multiple bullet impacts.
Authorities ruled out any connection between this double homicide and 'El Gordo Arce', as well as with the executions that occurred at a Smart Fit gym the day before. They also denied any link to the businessman and his bodyguard who were murdered in the Andares plaza.
The confusion surrounding the alleged murder of 'El Gordo Arce' stems from his name appearing on a list of YouTubers threatened with death in an anonymous flyer found in Culiacán, Sinaloa. According to the pamphlet, the 25-year-old influencer would be connected to the criminal cell Los Sapitos, considered a financial wing of Los Chapitos.
Some of those mentioned in the flyer, such as Gail Castro, brother of Markitos Toys, have already been murdered. The flyer also mentions the singer of corridos tumbados, Peso Pluma, stating that 'El Gordo Arce' would have collaborated in money laundering and financing for the criminal group led by the sons of 'Chapo'.
