According to the report presented to the Federal Register of Voters Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in its session yesterday, 99 million 793 thousand 821 people will be able to vote in the first judicial election on June 1. Of this total, 52% are women, 47% are men, and 282 people identify as non-binary. This number represents a historic coincidence with the federal voter registration of 99.86%, consisting of 99 million 938 thousand 667 people, the highest figure since 2006, according to Alejandro Sosa, technical secretary of the commission.
For early voting of people with disabilities or reduced mobility, five thousand 555 citizens have registered, of which 64% are women and 35% are men. Regarding early voting, councilor Jaime Rivera highlighted that in Aguascalientes there are 293 registered persons, despite being a populationally smaller entity than others like Baja California, which had 142 interested individuals, or Mexico City, whose registration was below half of Aguascalientes’ registrations.
The registry and the nominal list must still be presented by the General Council to declare their validity and definitiveness. On the other hand, electoral councilor Arturo Castillo, president of the commission, expressed his regret over the lack of a nominal list of people residing abroad or in preventive detention due to budgetary restrictions. He emphasized that without resources and without legal provisions, it is complicated to guarantee the rights of these people, who in his opinion have the right to vote.
In another session on the Extraordinary Process for the Election of Judicial Authority Positions, it was reported that the INE’s Conóceles system, where candidates must present their biography, has progressed to 93%, with three thousand 194 of the three thousand 412 expected already recorded. Candidacies for ministers have reached 98% progress, while those for magistrates of the Judicial Discipline Tribunal and the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federation have reached 100%. For their part, candidacies for circuit magistrates have progressed by 98%, and district judges by 97%.
This progress represents a 33% increase in the information recorded compared to candidates in the federal election of 2024, which renewed the Congress of the Union. This platform is essential for citizens to exercise an informed vote in the electoral day on June 1.
