The head of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, stated during the morning conference from the National Palace that the IMSS delegate in Tamaulipas, José Luis Aranza, was not in possession of firearms, which led to his detention and subsequent release by the state police on Tuesday. Robledo reported that after the vehicle inspection and transfer to the General Secretariat of Government, no weapons or cash were found with the IMSS delegate. In the words of Zoé Robledo: "The Secretary of Security itself and its spokesperson stated that there was no confirmation of any criminal act, nor of the presence of weapons exclusive for military use, nor of money." According to Robledo, the detention originated from an anonymous call, which is being investigated due to the lack of verified information. Claudia Sheinbaum, the president, requested the Tamaulipas Attorney General to clarify what happened to determine the validity of the arguments that led to José Luis Aranza's detention. The state security spokesperson mentioned that the detention occurred after detecting a white truck with plates from the State of Mexico that matched a theft report. After inspecting the vehicle and verifying the occupants, it was determined that there were no elements that constituted a crime. Although preliminary reports indicated that the IMSS delegate was carrying an unlicensed firearm and three million pesos in cash, authorities have denied this situation. In this regard, Robledo pointed out that there is no official information about the photographs circulating on social media showing the alleged money carried by Aranza.
