The Attorney General of Mexico denied rumors about the Izaguirre Ranch in Teuchitlán, where human remains were found, stating that it was not a crematorium operated by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Attorney General Alejandro Gertz Manero confirmed that the site was used for training new members of the cartel, not as a crematorium. "There is not a single piece of evidence supporting" the use of the site as such, Gertz Manero stated.
In a recent presentation, Gertz Manero mentioned that the ranch was a recruitment, training, and operation center of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which is fully substantiated. The progress of the investigation was facilitated by the capture of several individuals who provided key information about the operation of the site.
Although trenches and excavations were found that were used for bonfires, no analysis showed sufficient heat levels for the incineration of bodies, ruling out that hypothesis. Gertz Manero criticized the authorities in Jalisco for their inaction regarding the alerts and complaints received since 2021 from Human Rights organizations about activities at the ranch.
He emphasized that in 2021, a federal operation resulted in the detention of ten people, the rescue of two abductees, and the discovery of a corpse at the Izaguirre ranch. "They did nothing," Gertz Manero stressed, highlighting the change in attitude in September 2024.
