The mayor of Teuchitlán, José Murguía "N", faced his first indictment hearing for his alleged participation in the Izaguirre Ranch case, uncovered by the collective "Guerreros Buscadores" last March. Murguía has served as mayor three times: first with the PRI from 2012 to 2015, then with Movimiento Ciudadano from 2021 to 2024, and again with MC from 2025 to 2028.
José Murguía's arrest took place on Saturday, May 3; however, the municipality and the specific circumstances of his arrest have not been revealed by the Attorney General's Office. At the time of his arrest, Murguía was wearing blue jeans, a burgundy t-shirt, and black shoes.
The first hearing took place in the federal courts of Puente Grande, Jalisco, being guarded by local authorities. Although not many details about the session's development have been disclosed, it is suspected that the mayor's arrest could be related to organized crime.
The investigation regarding the Izaguirre Ranch has taken a significant step with the indictment of José Murguía, who is the first public official linked to this case. Despite the questions, in March Murguía denied having knowledge of the activities on the property, claiming that no one was aware of what was happening there.
