The National Council of Morena unanimously approved a series of ethical guidelines on Sunday that must be followed by members, representatives, or candidates for leadership or popularly elected positions within the party. These guidelines aim to eradicate all forms of discredit, denigration, defamation, political gender violence, or disloyalty towards other members of Morena.
One key point of the guidelines is the absolute rejection of violence in any form, as well as the issuance of public statements that discredit other members or collective decisions of the party without having previously exhausted the internal channels of Morena. The importance of maintaining open dialogue channels and resorting to institutional means to debate, denounce, criticize, and deliberate constructively internally is emphasized.
Furthermore, the dissemination of false or manipulated information about members or decisions of the movement with the aim of obtaining personal or electoral benefits is prohibited. Similarly, organizing or participating in campaigns of digital harassment, discredit, or lynching on social media against members of Morena is deemed contrary conduct.
Another important aspect of the guidelines is the prohibition of obstructing, ignoring, or contravening processes, agreements, or collective decisions made by the statutory bodies of the party, as well as leaking or manipulating internal information to create division among the members of Morena. The prohibition of supporting candidates or strategies from other political forces without alliances with Morena is also established.
Finally, the prohibition of discrimination based on ethnic origin, social background, gender, age, disabilities, social condition, health conditions, religion, opinions, sexual orientation, marital status, or other factors that may undermine the free exercise of political rights is highlighted. These ethical guidelines seek to promote unity, mutual respect, constructive criticism, and solidarity among members of Morena in order to build a cohesive movement committed to its ethical principles.
