Rumors of Change in the Direction of the CDMX Metro

Amid rumors and speculation, it seems that the former mayor of Cuajimalpa, Guillermo Calderón, could leave his position and be replaced by Rubalcava in the management of the metro in Mexico City. Initially, rumors about the possible departure of Calderón and the arrival of Rubalcava have been increasing in recent days.

Rubalcava's political landscape was affected after last year's elections, when the Green Party obtained more senators than expected. He also recently resigned from his position in the Ministry of the Interior, which would place him in a position to accept a new assignment.

Rubalcava's circle is confident about his arrival at the metro management, and it is even estimated that this could happen soon. Despite certain obstacles related to delays in Line 1 works, it is expected that once progress is made on these renovations, Calderón's departure and Rubalcava's appointment will be confirmed.

On the other hand, Manuel Velasco has decided to stay in the upper chamber to prevent Rubalcava from entering as a senator, as he was his substitute. Despite these setbacks, Rubalcava's environment remains optimistic and believes that his appointment will finally take place, which has been mentioned several times in the past.

One of the options considered by Rubalcava was coordinating peace tables in the federal Ministry of Security, although he ultimately leaned toward the metro management. After negotiating his appointment with the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, Rubalcava received the green light to proceed with this new assignment.

However, it is anticipated that the challenge at the helm of the metro will not be easy, as significant challenges are expected such as the completion of pending works on Line 1, improvements in passenger safety, and future tasks on Line 3, according to projections by Brugada. Rubalcava, who has been seeking direction since leaving the PRI due to differences with Alito Moreno, hopes to confirm his future within the framework of the 4T, with the hope of positively contributing to public transportation in the capital.
