In 1977, he joined the Order of Saint Augustine, was ordained a priest in 1982, and obtained a doctorate in canon law in Rome.

A recording of a few seconds showing a supposed ghost during a mass has become popular on social media following the election of León XIV as the new Pope. In the video, a presumed priest is seen conducting the mass in a church when his cassock begins to move strangely.

The clip has generated over 200 thousand views and hundreds of comments with theories about what the phenomenon could be. Some suggested it might be a child, a cat, or even a girl whose face can be seen, but the video does not show the complete ending. It was later clarified that a girl entered the priest's cassock during the mass, and he continued with the ceremony, expecting someone to remove her.

On the other hand, social media has been filled with images and videos related to the conclave and the election of León XIV as the successor of Pope Francis. It has been announced that Robert Francis Prevost, born in Chicago in 1955, is the first Augustinian pope. Prevost is the prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
