Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed this Thursday that her French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, will visit the country on November 7th. They will hold a meeting focused on cultural, economic, and diplomatic issues. The visit, originally scheduled for last September, will mark the first bilateral meeting between the two countries under Sheinbaum's administration and coincides with the 200th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France. Sheinbaum emphasized that the primary interest of her government during the French leader's visit is the repatriation of the Borgia Codices and another pre-Hispanic manuscript, which are currently in France and form part of the country's historical heritage. "Yes, Macron is coming on November 7th, it was postponed, remember he was supposed to come earlier? Our main interest is these codices that we want to bring back to Mexico, they are very important to us," Sheinbaum stated. She also mentioned that Macron's visit will include a meeting with French and Mexican business leaders as part of strengthening bilateral economic ties. Sheinbaum added that a joint press conference with the French leader is also planned, although the details of the agenda are still being worked out. "I suppose yes (there will be a joint press conference)," she said.
