The head of the Secretariat of Foreign Relations (SRE) of Mexico, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, will represent the country at the IV Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU), to be held on November 9 and 10 in Santa Marta, Colombia. The presence of Chancellor De la Fuente responds to “the profound interest that Mexico places in CELAC as the main space for regional political dialogue, as well as the relevance given to the relationship with the European Union as a strategic extraregional partner,” the SRE stated in a communiqué this Saturday. The SRE pointed out that De la Fuente will attend the summit on behalf of the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, and will travel this Saturday to Santa Marta, Colombia, to participate in the aforementioned summit. “This participation also reflects the active role of Mexico as a relevant actor in the region, as well as its willingness to contribute constructively to the strengthening of birregional relations with a view to a shared global agenda.” The CELAC-EU Summit is a political dialogue mechanism established in 2013 that brings together 60 states from both regions.
