Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that the country is undergoing a transformation and denied reports of repression against protesters during youth mobilizations. During a speech lasting over an hour, she recalled the main achievements of Morena seven years after coming to power. Sheinbaum emphasized that Mexico has already changed and expressed pride in the country hosting the World Cup for the third time. She also criticized the opposition, accusing them of trying to sell a false image of Mexico abroad. The president mentioned a security agreement with the United States, based on respect for sovereignty. Sheinbaum called for unity within her government and the Fourth Transformation (4T) movement, stating that power must be exercised with humility. In conclusion, she noted that in just over a year, an honest, people-oriented government has been consolidated, demonstrating that progress is compatible with justice and environmental protection.
"We must never forget those principles," she demanded after a year marked by scandals involving key figures from the ruling party, such as the coordinator in San Lázaro, Ricardo Monreal, his counterpart in the Senate, Adán Augusto, or the Secretary of Organization of Morena, Andy López Beltrán. "They have nothing to do with the moment of transformation that Mexico is going through," she stated and denied that protesters were repressed during the Generation Z mobilization.
Following recent Generation Z mobilizations, the head of state affirmed that "most young people are for the transformation" and added: "We came to government to continue and deepen the Fourth Transformation."
