The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha, is following the lead of his counterpart in Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, and is currently considering starting the new year with a series of arrest warrants against officials from the government of Quirino Ordaz, the current ambassador for Claudia Sheinbaum in Madrid. Rocha does not accept the political role that the ambassador is developing in the Pacific coast state. Durazo initiated various investigations against officials from the six-year term of Claudia Pavlovich, all after the former governor, now ambassador in Panama, had also begun to operate with an eye on Durazo's succession. Durazo's playbook is straightforward: if a former governor steps out of retirement, it is necessary to investigate them, even more so if that retirement includes a diplomatic post granted by the current ruling party. Ordaz took note of what happened and that is why, on Tuesday, he spread the word in 'El Universal' reminding that he will remain the 4T's ambassador in Madrid. Rocha, for his part, believes that going after Quirino could politically benefit him because, it is becoming increasingly evident, the security front shaking the state is far from being resolved, despite the incursions of Omar García Harfuch or the delivery of more federal resources. He believes that this project hid alleged irregularities. The Sonora example has several similarities. For months, Quirino has controlled the fate of 'Verde' at the state level. The current governor wants to go all the way, according to sources in Culiacán, against Ordaz's decision to build a stadium in Mazatlán for a soccer franchise.
Sinaloa Governor Plans Arrests of Predecessor's Officials
Inspired by Sonora's example, Sinaloa's governor Rubén Rocha is preparing arrest warrants for officials from his predecessor Quirino Ordaz's government, now an ambassador. Rocha sees political opportunity as state security issues persist.
