Mexican authorities have ordered the arrest of businessman Raúl Rocha Cantú, president of the Miss Universe Organization, as part of an investigation into his alleged ties to a criminal network dedicated to fuel smuggling (huachicol), arms, and drug trafficking, as stated in official judicial documents from the Attorney General's Office (FGR).
The text cites that the arrest warrant is included in criminal case file 495/2025, derived from investigation folder 928/2024, which also involves twelve other people allegedly linked to this criminal organization.
According to Mexican media, in the investigation, Jacobo Reyes León, alias 'El Yaicob' or 'El Lic', was identified as the alleged leader of the network, responsible for coordinating operations and receiving profits from the smuggling of hydrocarbons and firearms.
Reyes León was arrested on Monday, December 15, in Mexico City and handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime (Femdo).
The issue is that Raúl Rocha also appears in the same legal file, where he is identified as an alleged member of the criminal network and a current collaborating witness for the FGR.
This decision comes as legal processes involving the organization's owners—Rocha himself and Thai businesswoman Anne Jakrajutatip—continue to advance.
Authorities are investigating possible links to organizations such as the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and La Unión Tepito, although the case remains under investigation.
As is known, on November 26 of last year, the FGR publicly confirmed that Rocha Cantú was under investigation for alleged crimes related to drug trafficking, huachicol, and arms trafficking, one day before the departure of then-Attorney General Alejandro Gertz Manero.
While this turmoil continues, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) recently announced it will be moving its headquarters from Mexico to New York, the city where it operated for decades.
