The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, stated that the National Intelligence Center (CNI) is a fundamental component of the National Security Strategy, as it generates strategic knowledge that allows for anticipating risks, dismantling threats, and protecting citizens.
While leading the ceremony for the 107th Anniversary of Intelligence Services in Mexico, García Harfuch highlighted that thanks to these efforts, during the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the detention of over 38,700 individuals linked to high-impact crimes has been achieved.
The official detailed that intelligence work has also resulted in the seizure of 20,169 firearms and more than 311 tons of drugs. He said these results reflect the relevance of civilian intelligence in the fight against organized crime.
"With an ally of Peña Nieto, Eruviel is now preparing a new political party in the State of Mexico."
The solemn ceremony was attended by the Attorney General of the Republic, Ernestina Godoy; the commander of the National Guard, General Hernán Cortés; the head of the CNI, Francisco Almazán Barocio, as well as representatives of the institutions that make up the security cabinet, who all agreed on the importance of strengthening this body.
García Harfuch explained that the strengthening of the CNI has focused on increasing specialized personnel, technological improvements, information integration systems, expansion of operational and strategic analysis capabilities, and the continuous professionalization of the intelligence corps.
Finally, he highlighted the approval of the Law of the National System of Investigation and Intelligence in Public Security Matters, which strengthens the legal framework, institutional coordination, and constitutional adherence of civilian intelligence. He also recognized the silent work of the agents who work with discipline and vocation in contexts of high pressure and risk.
