In Mexico, businessman and co-owner of the Miss Universe pageant, Raúl Rocha Cantú, described as 'Charly's wife', has been accused of participating in a criminal network that trafficked weapons from Guatemala to Mexico for sale to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and La Unión Tepito. According to the Attorney General's Office (FGR), Rocha Cantú has been part of the criminal network since at least December 15, 2024, serving in a leadership role and making multi-million dollar investments that generated proportional profits. The Attorney General's Office stated that the injection of capital by this member, identified as Raúl Rocha Cantú, alias Raúl Rocha, has been crucial for the exponential increase in profits from the illicit commercialization of hydrocarbons from Guatemala and the United States of America. The entrepreneur also allegedly paid millions of pesos to obtain information on the actions of the authorities, allegedly provided by personnel from the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO). For now, a federal judge in Nuevo León has granted Rocha Cantú a provisional suspension that prevents the modification or revocation of his collaboration agreement, previously authorized by then-Fiscal Alejandro Gertz Manero. The businessman filed an amparo on December 12 against the refusal of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) to allow him to appear via videoconference, alleging a risk to his personal safety.
