The party MORENA has confirmed that its official membership has reached 11,050,758 people. This figure was achieved as part of the national membership campaign called 'We Are Millions, Join MORENA'. The results are certified by the National Electoral Institute (INE). Led by Luisa María Alcalde, the party surpassed its goal of 10 million members set a year ago. However, another goal—to establish 71,541 sectional committees in every electoral district in the country—was not met. According to Alcalde, by January, slightly less than half of the required number of committees had been created. 'Today, 13 years ago, our party-movement's affiliation campaign began. On January 8, 2013, on the Zócalo plaza, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador joined MORENA and shared his reasons for becoming a Protagonist of True Change,' the party stated.
