This Monday afternoon, the appointment of Dr. Lucero Ibarra Rojas as interim director began to circulate among the academic community of the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE). The official document, dated January 27 with folio A100/014/2026, was shared among academics at the institution and implies the dismissal of José Antonio Romero Tellaeche, who was appointed in 2021 without the support of the academic, student, or worker community. On the same day, the members of CIDE's governing body received an official document signed by Romero Tellaeche, in which he indicated that he will remain in his post until the process for his early removal is presented. The official stated that, as long as none of the legal assumptions are updated or the corresponding procedure is developed, the person holding the position of Director General will fully retain their legal and statutory powers. Through this document, Romero Tellaeche reiterated his willingness to continue performing the functions conferred upon him in accordance with the legal framework and respect for the decisions that the Governing Body might adopt in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, the CIDE Academic Staff Union took note of the interim director's appointment and recognized her as the new authority.
