Governor Samuel García announced that the 2026 economic package will be the same as last year, including the same incentives and tax benefits, during the inauguration of Expo Manufactura 2026. Meanwhile, budget negotiations are at their worst. Opposition factions MC and PRI-PAN accuse the governor of pushing unfunded projects, particularly the El Cuchillo dam project. They see this as another complication for the budget approval. PAN coordinator Carlos de la Fuente also criticized the governor for his New York trip and the request for a 2.7 billion peso loan for the dam project. "After the last meeting, there has been nothing, so I believe it will be difficult to resolve this in February," said PRI coordinator Heriberto Treviño. The government argues that the project is serious and that the federal government might support it due to the state's cooperation with the US. However, there have been no contacts with Conagua, and the governor's team deems it unwise to start a new project without completing ongoing ones.
