The National Advisory Council of MORENA discussed ending attempts by "vulgarly ambitious" individuals to create "tribes" within the Fourth Transformation in Zacatecas or Tabasco. "We must not forget that in MORENA, beyond being a political organization, we are a brotherhood, even though brothers sometimes fight," acknowledged Ladrón de Guevara. At the end of last weekend, the Veracruz senator, Manuel Huerta, declared the need to reinforce territorial work (membership and the organization of sectional committees) after confirming that the party has 11 million members. This was how the severe words of President Claudia Sheinbaum during her visit to San Quintín a week prior were interpreted, when she publicly scolded a group of morenistas composed of federal deputies (Gilberto Herrera), senators (Armando Ayala), mayors (Miriam Cano), and local legislators (Evelyn Sánchez). All the political cost is being borne by MORENA, either by nominating profiles from other parties—even from the opposition—or because several figures within the party are seeking to found their own tribes. This was the widespread complaint launched by the National Advisory Council to its leader, Luisa María Alcalde, during the second ordinary meeting of this "pure and hardline" body of the party. At the event, morenistas of the caliber of Héctor Díaz-Polanco, Paco Ignacio Taibo, Jesusa Rodríguez, Gabriel García, Paloma Sainz, or Armando Bartra expressed their displeasure with the bill the 4T is paying for continuing its open-door policy. This alliance policy was part of MORENA's electoral strategy for the 2018 presidential victory and for achieving in 2024 not only the presidency but what was then universally considered impossible: a qualified majority in both chambers of the Legislative Power. Now, amidst the scandal over the arrest of the mayor of Tequila, Jalisco, Diego Rivera Navarro, accused of running extortion schemes against tequila companies and belonging to a criminal cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel), talk of stricter filters, such as this method, is circulating within MORENA's leadership. Sheinbaum dismisses a Monreal candidacy in Zacatecas: "Let him wait six years". According to information disseminated by the National Council of MORENA, chaired by Governor Alfonso Durazo, to select candidates for the 2027 midterm elections, only profiles that "in addition to meeting legal requirements, are not sanctioned and have no criminal records" will be validated. This must be decided in the coming weeks for the morenista leadership that makes up the MORENA Advisory Council. "Stop being there and... [spend time] in your territories," shouted Sheinbaum Pardo.
