Mexican authorities are conducting an operation to combat corruption and ties to organized crime among local officials. As part of 'Operation Swarm' (Operación Enjambre), three mayors from the State of Mexico and the mayor of Tequila have been arrested. The mayor of La Paz, Milena Quiroga, praised Secretary of Security Omar Harfuch and the armed forces for these detentions. It is reported that more mayor arrests may follow soon. Meanwhile, a diplomatic incident occurred in Mexico involving a group of U.S. congressmen who claimed their meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum was canceled, although the Mexican embassy stated no such meeting was ever scheduled. In response, President Sheinbaum called for loyalty to the Constitution, not to personal or factional interests.
